If you are a member and requesting volunteer services for the first time, click on the following link to learn how to initiate a service request:   https://support.helpfulvillage.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059707613-How-to-create-a-new-Service-Request (Login required)

Volunteer services requests are managed by categorizing service opportunities that are organized by Teams (Compassion Team, Helping Hands Team and Technology Team). Volunteers will receive daily emails listing open service requests they can volunteer for, based on their chosen Team. Bridge Village Administration is able to manage and send service requests manually or through email messenger within the system's volunteer management features.

Why Volunteer?

The primary requirement for being a volunteer is a desire and ability to help othersWe welcome volunteers of all ages, talents, and interests. You do not need to be a member of the Village (though you can be) or have any specific skill. Some volunteers have unique skills or knowledge to share, while others offer more general assistance with a wide variety of needs. These services are provided by a team of volunteers recruited and organized by Village Amigos of Grant County, NM.  These services are available by request on this website once you are a member.

Volunteer services that volunteers provide are organized into Teams.  These Teams are:

The Village does not perform services that are best handled by a professional or that might endanger a volunteer.

Companionship Team: Personal phone calls and home visits help members stay in touch and socialize.  Staying in touch with others keeps our members involved in the community. The Village needs volunteers to do a phone check on members either weekly or daily. We also need someone to visit shut in members or take a walk with a member. Volunteers can provide light household help such as running errands or taking out the trash. Personal phone calls and home visits help members stay in touch and socialize.

Also, organize monthly activities to provide opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy interactive participation. Organize activities for Members such as Birthday calls, cards and socials, Friday Fun with Friends, Book Clubs, Men's social hour.

Home Technology: Older persons can find using computers and smart phones challenging, but a little help by answering questions can make such a difference. Volunteers will help with setting up voice command devices such as Alexa. Install smart lights, plugs, doorbells and thermostats, password resets, thermostats, file transfers, TV setup and troubleshooting, Routers and home networks, printer installs, Windows computers.
