The Village does not perform services that are best handled by a professional or that might endanger a volunteer.

Companionship Team:  Staying in touch with others keeps our members involved in the community. The Village needs volunteers to do a phone check on members either weekly or daily. We also need someone to visit shut in members or take a walk with a member. Volunteers can provide light household help such as running errands or taking out the trash. Personal phone calls and home visits help members stay in touch and socialize.

Also, organize monthly activities to provide opportunities to meet new friends and enjoy interactive participation. Organize activities for Members such as Birthday calls, cards and socials, Friday Fun with Friends, Book Clubs, Men's social hour.

Home Technology: Older persons can find using computers and smart phones challenging, but a little help by answering questions can make such a difference. Volunteers will help with setting up voice command devices such as Alexa. Install smart lights, plugs, doorbells and thermostats, password resets, thermostats, file transfers, TV setup and troubleshooting, Routers and home networks, printer installs, Windows computers.

Village Builders:  Village Builders are volunteers that can help us launch the village, perform Welcome Visits and, possibly, onboarding members in the outlying neighborhoods of Cliff/Gila, Mimbres and the Mining Community.

FUTURE TEAMS

Going My Way Team (Transportation): Not being able to drive is such a limitation on a person’s well-being and engagement in the community. By offering rides, we are able to make a difference.  Bridge Village needs volunteers to take members to medical appointments, to the hair salon, grocery shopping or to the gym for example. Members are expected to be able to get in and out of a car with only moderate assistance. If you want to be a volunteer driver, there is an additional form to verify your driving record and your insurance.

Med Pal Team (Do we have medically trained volunteers?)
